Faculty members of Chen Kuang High School were invited to attend the Lantern Festival Gala hosted by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, Philippines, at the Still Thoughts Hall in the Tzu Chi Great Love Campus, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The event, held on March 3 (Lunar New Year’s Day 15), gathered educators, students, and community partners to celebrate compassion, unity, and cultural tradition. The gala featured a warm buffet-style dinner and Still Thoughts cultural sharing, emphasizing the values of kindness, giving, and service.
Blessing Red Envelopes of Fortune and Wisdom
A special highlight of the evening was the distribution of “Fortune and Wisdom Red Envelopes”, presented by Executive Director Brother Henry Yunez on behalf of Master Cheng Yen. These red envelopes symbolize the spirit of “cultivating both blessings and wisdom”:
Fortune: reminding everyone to spread kindness and accumulate merit.
Wisdom: encouraging people to maintain clarity of mind and nurture compassion and insight.
This segment added warmth to the festive atmosphere and allowed participants to deeply appreciate the core values of Tzu Chi’s culture.

Chen Kuang High School Principal Steve Wong remarked after the event:
“This is an opportunity for us to cultivate compassion and a spirit of service together with Tzu Chi. Through participating in the gala, our faculty reaffirm that education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also about passing on values.”

As lanterns lit up the night sky, the Fortune and Wisdom Red Envelopes distributed by Henry Yunez added warmth and meaning, symbolizing the partnership of education and charity in spreading love and hope throughout society.
