The organization, supported by the Philippine League Against Epilepsy (PLAE), has been leading initiatives such as the Epilepsy School Caravan, National Epilepsy Congress, and the Epilepsy Exemplar Awards, which celebrate individuals who thrive despite living with epilepsy.
In 1993, the Philippine government declared the first week of September as National Epilepsy Awareness Week through Proclamation No. 230. This annual observance underscores the importance of education, treatment accessibility, and empathy. More recently, the #STEPS: Stop the Epilepsy Stigma campaign has mobilized communities nationwide, encouraging Filipinos to take symbolic “steps” toward inclusion and compassion.
School officials at Philippine Chen Kuang High School expressed pride in Huang’s achievement, noting that his work reflects both artistic excellence and social responsibility. “This honor is not just for Harold, but for the entire school community that supports awareness, empathy, and innovation,” administrators said during a recognition ceremony.
