“In response to the requirements of the Philippines Department of Education’s K-12 Basic Education program, twelfth-grade (senior high school) students must have a minimum of eighty internship hours before graduation. To enable students to experience university life firsthand and understand the operation of university courses, this year, our school principal, Dr. Huang Sihua, High School Director Teresita Eusebio, and the responsible person from Trinity University in the Philippines signed a memorandum of understanding, allowing our high school graduates to intern at the university. On one hand, students experience university life, and on the other hand, they learn as visiting students in university classrooms. This internship takes place every Monday and Tuesday for eight hours a day, completing the internship in five weeks. At the internship closing ceremony held at Trinity University, our students expressed that they learned a lot of new knowledge and skills during the internship, prepared themselves for university, and looked forward to their future learning careers with anticipation and hope. Internships provide students with the opportunity to engage with the real world, broaden their horizons, and confirm whether they are suitable for positions in their chosen fields. Interns not only gain firsthand practical experience and apply what they have learned but also understand the pathways to achieving career goals. Internships also serve as a platform for students to establish social communication: internship sites facilitate information exchange, networking, and the initial establishment of workplace relationships. For some interns, internships serve as stepping stones to securing full-time employment.”
