The fire safety awareness seminar, organized by the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and co-sponsored by the Fire Safety Seminar Student Association of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and hosted by our school, was held on the school grounds on the morning of October 20th at 9 a.m. The purpose of this event was to enhance disaster prevention knowledge for all teachers and students in the school. On that day, Peter Tsai and Michael Shi, who had received professional training at the Training Center of the Taiwanese Ministry of the Interior’s Fire Department, served as instructors. Members of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Committee, including Zhongting Huang, Secretary-General Huaiqiang Tsai, Deputy Treasurer Yunling Tsai, Director of the Organizing Committee Mingkai Zhuang, Director of the Social Work Committee Liren Chen, Deputy Director Yuying Wu, and committee members Menghui Chen, Huijing Chen, Maike Zhuang, and Yuyan Wu, also visited the school to provide guidance.
Principal Wong expressed his approval and praise for the fire safety awareness seminar organized by the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Fire Safety Seminar Student Association of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hoping that the students at our school can take this opportunity to learn and acquire knowledge, which can reduce the occurrence of fires. He also hoped that this event could be held annually at our school, benefiting more students, teachers, and parents.
Mr. Liren Chen mentioned in his speech that in case of a kitchen fire, everyone must remain calm because using the wrong methods to extinguish the fire can make it spread faster and become uncontrollable. Therefore, he encouraged all participants to listen carefully to the lectures and demonstrations by instructors Peter Tsai and Michael Shi, as the ultimate beneficiaries are themselves. They demonstrated the steps for treating burns and effective techniques for extinguishing a burning pot using a lid, baking soda, wet towels, cola, and a fire extinguisher with the assistance of other Filipino-Chinese firefighting brothers.
This event also thanked the volunteer fire brigade of Central District in Pasig City and the volunteer fire prevention association of Central District in San Juan City for sending fire trucks to support, allowing the participants to experience the valuable experience of firefighters that day. After presenting certificates of appreciation to the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Fire Safety Seminar Student Association, the volunteer fire brigade of Central District in Pasig City, and the volunteer fire prevention association of Central District in San Juan City, the day’s activities came to a successful conclusion.”
